The Bristish All Styles Karate Association (BASKA)

The Kugatsu Karate-Do are members of BASKA, the British All Styles Karate Association, a multi-style karate association with membership of both the Scottish Karate Governing Body and the English Karate Federation.  The Chief Instructor is Shihan Greg Wallace (8th Dan) who has been training in the martial arts for over 30 years.

Shihan Wallace has trained in various styles, including Kyokushinkai, Sankukai, Shotokan, Wadoryu, and Aki Jutsu before becoming the founder of Renshinkai Karate.  His wide knowledge of traditional karate plus competitions has brought him many successes in both Kumite and Kata winning the British Full Contact Karate Championships in 1977, the Tera National Kata championships in 1978, 1979,1980, as well as taking 3rd place in Kata English National Championships 1984. Shihan Wallace also won the British Open Kumite Championship in 1981 and 1983.

Until moving to live in Jamaica in 2003, Shihan Wallace was the secretary to the English Karate Governing Body for eight years. He was also inducted into The World Hall of Fame United States of America in 1994.  Shihan Wallace is an English Karate Governing Body (EKGB) Referee, a former member of the EKGB Technical Committee and a former Head of Delegation to the EKGB.

The Scottish arm of the British All Styles Karate Association is known as Baska Karate, with the senior instructor in Scotland being Sensei John Riley (5th Dan).  Baska Karate has a number of Shukokai, Shotokan and Shito-ryu karate clubs in and around West Central Scotland.  Baska Karate organise a karate course (& association grading)  and an open karate competition (the BASKA Open) each year.

Sensei Graham McCann is a member of the BASKA Executive Committee.
